The horse was an animal which could be associated with the journeying sun and it was an important religious symbol in the North from the Bronze Age onwards. The völva was highly respected, but it was recognized that horses were closer to the gods and could understand them better than any völva. There was no clergy in Norse religious practice, but there was the figure of the völva (seeress), a woman who received messages from the gods, could predict the future, and presided over community rituals. In Scandinavian culture, the stallion replaced the bull as the symbol of virility and power, but horses generally were understood as possessing supernatural abilities that placed them in communion with the gods and spirits. Sleipnir is then thought to carry Odin to the afterlife in keeping with the traditional understanding of the horse a liminal being in Norse mythology.

In the final battle between the forces of chaos that include Loki and Sleipnir’s half-siblings Fenrir, Jörmungandr, and Hel – among others – on the side of chaos, most of the Norse gods are killed, including Odin and his faithful horse. The viewer has seen his own interpretation of the fragmented images the next viewer may see something different.Sleipnir’s final ride is to carry Odin to the battlefield of Vigrid at Ragnarök, the Twilight of the Gods. If the image is fragmented, the viewer can imagine for himself the missing parts and involve himself in the creation of the whole image. He believes a strictly photographic image does not allow the viewer to participate in the painting. Leon’s philosophy is that it is not the delineation of the subject which is important, but its fragmentation. Since seeing his work, Risborough Art Gallery have made him a regularly featured artist. Many of his works have sold for thousands of pounds to the U.S.A. His work has been sold at The Omell Gallery, Ascot, as well as Christies, the fine art auction house in London.

His two ferocious wolves Geri & Freki accompany him sometimes and he has an eight-legged horse called Sleipnir that can travel very quickly over the nine worlds.!! His two ravens, Hugin & Munin, fly from Asgard every morning and return every evening with news of Midgard, Giants and other events. He gave one eye to attain wisdom, after drinking from the well of the wise giant, Mimir. He is also called "Val-father" (Deathfather/Father of the slain). Odin is often called "All-father", because he took part in both the creation of the world and the creation of humans. The god of war, death, fury, ecstasy, wisdom, kings, warriors, poets, berserkers, and outsiders, Odin governs over victory, death, knowledge and ecstatic inspiration. In the show, as often in Norse Mythology, Odin appears to humans as an old, ghastly wanderer. Ragnar Lothbrok, who claims to be descended from Odin, often has visions of him and his ravens, appearances which Ragnar interprets as different signs. Odin is the chief Viking god and the ruler of Asgard, who sacrificed his eye to acquire knowledge and wisdom.
